SHORT EYES written by Miguel Pinero first debuted off broadway Febuary 1974. Pinero's work was nominated for six Tony Awards, won the New York Critics Circle Award, and an Obie Award for the "best play of the year".

Robert M. Young later on directed the flim and captured true poetry at its finest.
